Paul McCartney and Adolf Hitler
(Pete Seeger said the key to the future of the World is finding the positive stories and let them be told)
As we anxiously await Trump’s arrest here is a true story and video that might warm your heart with hope.
In 1940, Liverpool England is being bombed by Hitler’s air force. Jim McCartney who is 38 years old, admitted to his friends that he is undoubtedly a confirmed bachelor. He takes to an air raid shelter where he meets Mary Mohan who at 31 years old and considered a spinster dedicated to her career in Nursing. The bombs that lasted long into the night had the positive effect of Jim and Mary striking up a prolonged conversation that results in their marriage one year later. Paul McCartney of Beatles fame was born one year after that. One of Paul’s earliest memories is seeing his Mom bicycle away to work in a heavy snowstorm.
In 1956, Mary knew her time was near when she was diagnosed with cancer. She continued to bicycle to work often in much pain. On the day she was to have an operation, she commented to her sister in law as she prepared Paul and his brothers clothes for school that at least they will be ready in case I don’t come back. Her last words that day in the hospital was that she would have loved to see the boys grow up.
She returned in a dream that Paul had in 1968. He woke up hearing her words “Let it Be” to any problems he might have. He immediately wrote one of the greatest songs of all time with references to his Mother Mary in the song repeatedly.
In the small house you are about to see. Paul McCartney indicates that he woke up got out of bed dragged a comb across his head found my way downstairs and drank a cup…. These are the words by a young man writing the verse to A Day in the Life considered by historians and many experts as the greatest Beatles song. Since the Beatles are considered the greatest rock group this song will undoubtedly live on so that in 100 years teachers will still be discussing it’s impact on Rock and Roll and our culture. This magnificent song was co-written by a young man in his 20’s in very modest surroundings.
Ex- Beatle and rock legend Paul McCartney was in New York City last week standing in solidarity with hundreds of thousands protesting gun violence across the United States.
Sir Paul McCartney indicated that one of his best friends was killed by gun violence near where the March for our Lives rally was held, so it’s important for him not just to march today but to take action tomorrow and to have these people have their voices heard.
McCartney indicated what could be achieved by the rally by opening his jacket to emphasize the message on his shirt, which read, “We can end gun violence.”
McCartney said he wasn’t sure whether gun violence could be ended on the legislative level, but said that what citizens can do is march. The former Beatle was joined by his wife Nancy Shevell at the rally blocks away from the Dakota Building, outside of which his bandmate John Lennon was shot in 1980. McCartney and Lennon were the greatest rock composers of the 1960’s and it was hoped that they would reunite some day. The day never occurred with the senseless murder of John Lennon.
In McCartney’s native England, it’s significantly more difficult for private citizens to own guns, a result of a 1996 mass shooting in Dunblane, Scotland, in which a gunman killed 16 children and a teacher. After the shooting, all handguns were banned from private ownership, with over 162,000 being surrendered in a gun amnesty. Only one mass shooting has taken place in the U.K. since, in 2010.
Several other celebrities expressed their support for the cause Saturday and attended rallies in their cities. Demi Lovato performed at the Washington, D.C. rally, and others like Kim Kardashian West, Liev Schreiber, and Nick Offerman posted about their intention to rally.

In an interview, John Lennon acknowledged Paul McCartney’s authorship of the above by saying, “That’s Paul again … He had a line in it, ‘And in the end, the love you get is equal to the love you give,’ which is a beautifully philosophical line. John Lennon misquoted the actual line which is listed above.

Yesterday and Today is the ninth studio album by the Beatles released on Capitol Records. It was originally issued only in the United States and Canada.
Yesterday and Today is remembered primarily for the controversy surrounding its original cover image. The butcher cover featuring The Beatles dressed in white smocks and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat. Yesterday and Today is a compilation album from The Beatles’ original British albums.
It was derived from a March 1966 photo shoot with Robert Whitaker. Whitaker took a series of pictures of the group dressed in butcher smocks and draped with pieces of meat and body parts from baby dolls. It was not originally intended as an album cover, Paul McCartney reportedly described it as our comment on the Vietnam war.
In 2016, an original mint condition stereo copy of Yesterday and Today in shrink wrap was sold for a record $125,000.
Buddy Holly and the Crickets Chirping Crickets album is the self titled debut album. In 2003, the album was ranked number 421 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
The LP was released in the US in 1957. One of rock’s greatest albums, now with four bonus sides for a total of 16 classic tracks! Includes Oh Boy, Not Fade Away, Maybe Baby, It’s Too Late; and That’ll Be the Day.
Charles Hardin Holly (1936–1959), known as Buddy Holly, was an American musician and singer-songwriter. He was born in Lubbock, Texas, to a musical family. He learned to play guitar and sing alongside his siblings.
His style was influenced by gospel music, country music, and rhythm and blues acts, and he performed in Lubbock with his friends from high school. He made his first appearance on local television in 1952.
In 1955, after opening for Elvis Presley, Holly decided to pursue a career in music. Buddy Holly opened for Elvis Presley three times that year. Holly’s band style shifted from country and western to entirely rock n roll.
Also in 1955 he opened for Bill Haley & His Comets and was spotted by Nashville scout Eddie Crandall, who helped him get a contract with Decca Records.
In September 1957, as the band toured That’ll Be the Day topped the US Best Sellers in Stores chart and the UK Singles Chart. Its success was followed in October by another major hit Peggy Sue.
In early 1959, Holly assembled a new band. After a show in Clear Lake, Iowa, Holly chartered an airplane to travel to his next show, in Moorhead, Minnesota. Soon after takeoff, the plane crashed, killing Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, and the pilot. The tragedy later referred to by Don McLean as The Day the Music Died.
Holly is often regarded as the artist who defined the traditional rock-and-roll lineup of two guitars, bass, and drums. He was a major influence on later popular music artists, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Elton John.
He was among the first artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1986. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 13 in its list of “100 Greatest Artists”.
Some of the most important Beatle Memorabilia are the music recordings made by the Beatles, from their beginnings as the Quarrymen in 1957 to their break-up in 1970. Their was a reunion of their surviving members in the mid-1990s. This memorabilia has huge cultural and historical value. They are considered extremely valuable by many of their hugh fan base as music memorabilia.
In July 1958, the Quarrymen recorded two songs at Phillips’ Sound Recording Services in their hometown of Liverpool. It was the group’s first recording session, for which they paid. The recordings were pressed onto a disc then the sessions tapes were erased to be reused with new customers.
Because of the low quality and age of the recordings, the songs are filled with hiss but are still listenable. The record was not intended for release but for the Quarrymen’s personal use. Paul McCartney indicated that when we got the record, the agreement was that we would have it for a week each. John had it a week and passed it on to me. I had it for a week and passed it on to George, who had it for a week. Then Colin had it for a week and passed it to Duff Lowe, who kept it for 23 years. In 1981, Lowe sold the record to McCartney. McCartney then had audio engineers attempt to improve the sound quality.
Abbey Road Studios
The studio session tapes are kept at Abbey Road Studios, formerly known as “EMI Studios” until 1970, where the Beatles recorded most of their songs. While most have never been officially released, their outtakes and demos are seen by fans as collectables, and some of the recordings have appeared on countless bootlegs.
Until 2013, the only outtakes and demos to be officially released were on The Beatles Anthology series and its tie-in singles, and bits of some previously unreleased studio recordings were used in The Beatles: Rock Band video game as background noise and to give songs studio-sounding beginnings and endings. In 2013, Apple Records released the album The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963, which includes previously unreleased outtakes and demos from 1963, to stop the recordings falling into the public domain.
